VDO launches the first intelligent tachograph with dual approval, DTCO 4.1a.
This special approval means that the tachograph can be programmed by workshops in two ways:
1. as a “transition tachograph - the currently prescribed tachograph, but also the tachograph that is to be used as part of a retrofit.
2. as the “OS-NMA tachograph, the new mandatory tachograph, 5 months after the introduction of the OS-NMA authentication protocol (expected at the end of March 2025).
The DTCO 4.1a therefore offers workshops maximum flexibility, as only one type of tachograph is required, which can be used in both existing and new vehicles (as soon as the OS-NMA regulations come into force). This means lower risks and costs in storage and maintenance.
In addition, the predecessor of the DTCO 4.1 can still be used as a transitional tachograph, so there is no risk of workshops having to work with the “old model.
It will also be possible to upgrade the DTCO 4.1 transition tachograph to the DTCO 4.1a so that new functions (such as controlling the tachograph via a smartphone app) can be used.
